Hyperledger: Driving business innovation

The Hyperledger Project is a collaborative, open source effort to advance the development of blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies (DLTs). This effort is sponsored by the Linux Foundation and organized by the Hyperledger Foundation.

Hyperledger aims to create a robust and transparent environment that enables the development of DLT solutions for various industries and facilitates the adoption of these technologies through shared tools, frameworks, and standards.

Goals

  • Create an open source, enterprise-grade DLT framework to support commercial transactions.
  • Provide a neutral, open, community-driven infrastructure supported by technical and corporate governance.
  • Build technical communities to develop proof-of-concepts (POCs), use cases, field trials, and startups.
  • Educate the public about the market opportunity for these technologies.
  • Foster a community of communities using a toolkit approach that integrates multiple platforms and frameworks.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in the adoption and application of distributed ledger technologies across multiple industries.

Hyperledger Foundation

Founded in 2015, the Hyperledger Foundation aims to bring transparency and efficiency to the enterprise market by fostering a thriving ecosystem around open source distributed ledger technologies (DLTs).

Hyperledger hosts several open source software projects that serve as essential components for enterprise deployments. Designed and developed by the community, these projects provide freely available, enterprise-grade software.

Hyperledger technologies

  1. DLTs: Distributed ledger technologies that serve as the foundation for blockchain networks across industries and use cases.
  2. Libraries: These are tested and proven code sets that provide a solid foundation to meet essential requirements for implementing blockchains and distributed ledgers.
  3. Tools: Utilities designed to enhance blockchain implementation by solving complex challenges such as interoperability, performance, and security.
  4. Labs: Technologies under development in the Hyperledger Labs that encourage experimentation and participation by more developers in the community.

Major Projects

  • Anoncreeds: A Verifiable Credentials (VC) format that uses Zero-Knowledge Proof-of-Proof (ZKP) capabilities to ensure privacy in transactions.
  • Aries: A complete toolkit for decentralized identity and digital trust solutions.
  • Besu: An Ethereum-compatible client that enables transactions over public and private networks, with support for various consensus algorithms.
  • Bevel: Hyperledger Bevel is an advanced automation framework for deploying robust, production-ready DLT networks in cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Cacti: A DLT integration platform designed for cross-chain asset transfers.
  • Caliper: A benchmarking tool designed to measure the performance of blockchain implementations.
  • Cello: An operational console that facilitates blockchain management and blockchain as a service (BaaS) deployments.
  • Fabric: A widely used enterprise blockchain platform recognized for its performance and scalability.
  • FireFly: An open source supernode that accelerates the development of decentralized applications.
  • Indy: An interoperable decentralized digital identity platform.
  • Iroha: An easy-to-use modular blockchain platform with essential functionalities for asset and identity management.
  • Solang: A portable compiler for Solidity that targets Solana and Substrate.
  • Web3j: A modular library designed to work with smart contracts and integrate with Ethereum clients.
